Bamdev’s next hearing likely after Dashain only

KATHMANDU: The next hearing of the writ petitions filed against the appointment of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam to the post of a National Assembly (NA) member is likely to be held after the Dashain.

A five-member Constitutional Bench in the Supreme Court (SC) is hearing the case against Gautam.

Since the SC did not schedule any hearing under the bench on Wednesday, it is most likely that the case will be heard only after Dashain festival.

It may also be noted that some SC judges and officials are currently in isolation for testing positive for coronavirus.

The SC will remain closed for two weeks after Friday on the occasion of the Dashain festival.
