KATHMANDU:  Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) of the Indian Army Manoj Mukund Narvane is arriving on a three-day visit to Nepal.

Four-star general of the Indian Army, Narvane is coming to Nepal on November 3, said a Nepal Army source.

President Bidhya Bhandari will confer an honorary title of  the  Chief of Army Staff of the Nepal Army on Narvane during his Nepal visit.

He will pay visits to Prime Minister KP Oli, Defense Minister Ishwar Pokharel and his counterpart CoAS Purna Chandra Thapa on the occasion, according to Nepal Army sources.

Narvane is also scheduled to visit Muktinath.

Indian Army Chief’s visit is taking place at a time when the bilateral ties between Nepal and India has soured.

The relationship between the two countries has aggravated after the Nepal government issued a new map of Nepal including Kalapani, Lipu Lekh and Limpiyadhura.

No high-level visits have taken place between the two countries since then.

Narvane has not visited Nepal following his appointment as the 28th Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army on December 31, 2019.

CoAS Thapa has already received an honorary tile of CoAS of the Indian Army.
