KATHMANDU: The government has decided to resume domestic flights and long-haul public transport from September 21.

A meeting of Council of Ministers held on Monday evening decided to allow operation of domestic flights and public transport (long-haul, medium and short distances), according to a Cabinet minister.

Domestic flights and long-route public transport have been suspended after Nepal enforced coronavirus lockdown on March 24.

It should be noted that public transport entrepreneurs have announced operating public vehicles from September 17, accusing the government of failing to address their grievances.

Entrepreneurs had objected to the government’s decision not to operate public transport although they are ready to adopt necessary health protocols.

Entrepreneurs have been battered as the government has not decided on route permits, renewal fees and insurance.
