Over 6,000 active COVID-19 cases in Kathmandu Valley; 84 die so far



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has stated that Kathmandu Valley currently has 6,444 active coronavirus cases.

As per the record maintained by the Ministry, Kathmandu district has the highest number of 5,446 active cases, while 501 in Bhaktapur and 497 in Lalitpur are in institutional or home isolations.

So far, the coronavirus has been confirmed in 12,250 people in the three districts. Of them, 10,028 are from Kathmandu, 1,032 from Bhaktapur and 1,190 from Lalitpur.

Of those infected, 5,722 have been discharged. A total of 4,520 people in Kathmandu, 518 in Bhaktapur and 684 in Lalitpur have recovered.

So far, 84 people have died of the pandemic in Kathmandu Valley. Among the deceased, 62 are from Kathmandu, 13 from Bhaktapur and nine from Lalitpur.

The country recorded a total of 1,170 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. Among them, 512 more persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley. A total of persons in Kathmandu, 43 in Bhaktapur and 29 in Lalitpur have been infected with the pandemic virus.

According to the statistics, 43.76 percent of the new cases are in the Kathmandu Valley alone.

1,843 undergoing treatment in Kathmandu hospitals

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1,843 people are being treated for the coronavirus in various hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley. Of those, 175 were hospitalized on Monday.

Similarly, 108 are ICU beds and 25 patients are being treated on ventilators in the Valley.
