Nepal govt deports 41 Chinese tourists for their suspicious activities

KATHMANDU: The Nepal government has repatriated 41 Chinese nationals who had come to Nepal on tourist visas.

The Ministry of Home Affairs took a decision to deport them after finding their suspicious activities, banning their entry to Nepal for a year.

Police and the officials at the Department of Immigration are clueless on what they were doing during their stay in Nepal.

The Department has said that they were involved in suspicious activities.

On August 20, the Nepal government had decided to deport 22 Chinese people for their involvement in suspicious activities.
The Home Ministry decided to repatriate other 19 Chinese nationals last Friday.

Director General at the Department of Immigration Ramesh Kumar KC said they have been deported after finding their suspicious activities.

“They were found to have been involved in suspicious activities even though they came to Nepal on tourist visas,” said KC.

On December 23, 2019, Nepal had repatriated  as many as 125 Chinese nationals staying in Nepal illegally based on the information provided by the Chinese security.

Some of those arrested had no passports during the period. As many as 41 Chinese nationals were staying illegally in Nepal.

Soon after the arrival of Wang Xiaohong, the Director of Ministry of Public Security, in Kathmandu in the second week of December last year, a pack of Chinese undercover agents brought commotion in Nepal with the raid and arrest of the largest-ever number of foreigners.

The arrested 41 Chinese nationals will be sent back to China as soon as the China flight is available.

The Home Ministry had brought the foreign nationals monitoring directive into implementation in 2074 BS .
