Deuba demands earliest rescue of missing persons in landslide



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has demanded the earliest rescue of those missing in landslides and free healthcare services to those who sustained injury.

More than 198 people have been killed and 57 missing in landslide and flooding and, mostly rain-triggered ones, in the last 62 days since the arrival of monsoon, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Authority.

The president of the major opposition party here demanded the search and rescue for those missing in the recent landslides at Lidi of Jugal Rural Municipality-3 in Sindhupalchowk and Mahabai Rural Municipality-3 in Kalikot district.

Deuba, also the former Prime Minister, has extended condolences to the bereaved families.

He also drew the attention of the government to relocate those people at high risk of landslide and provide them food and safe shelter.

Furthermore, he pressed for necessary compensation to those affected by the landslide.
