Govt allows private labs to conduct COVID-19 test

KATHMANDU: The government has allowed private laboratories to conduct COVID-19 test.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the samples collected for the PCR test will be allowed to be tested by a private laboratory after completing necessary procedures.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Sunday, Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, Spokesperson at MoHP, said the government will bear the cost of such tests.

Likewise, the government has assigned Patan Hospital, Bir Hospital and Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital to conduct PCR testing of people wishing to acquire health certificates to those who have obtained visa to go abroad.
