Constitution Amendment Bill tabled in National Assembly



KATHMANDU: The Constitution Amendment Bill endorsed by the House of Representatives unanimously has been introduced in the National Assembly on Sunday.

The bill that was unanimously passed by the lower house on Saturday was tabled in the upper house today.

In today’s session of the upper house, NA Secretary Rajendra Phuyal tabled the Bill received from the House of Representatives with a message. Following it, NA Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina announced the adjournment of the session for 15 minutes.

There is a constitutional provision in the National Assembly that the bill should be passed by a two-thirds majority.

In a historic event, the House of Representatives unanimously endorsed the Constitution Amendment Bill on Saturday evening to make a change to the Coat of Arms as per the newly updated map of Nepal.

In the closed voting, 258 votes were cast in favor of the amendment bill and no vote against which is more than the two-thirds majority required for the endorsement.
