SIRAHA: With 62 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection on a single day in State-2 on Tuesday, the total number of infected people in the State has reached 94 as of now.
The highest number of confirmed cases are in Parsa district with 82 people, including three Indians.
Likewise, three persons each have been infected in Rautahat and Bara districts, two persons each in Dhanusha and Mahottari districts and one person each in Saptari and Sarlahi districts in the State, according to the State-2 Health Directorate Janakpurdham.
Out of the eight districts in State-2, Siraha has not been affected with coronavirus case so far.
Nasal swab samples have been collected from 211 people in the State on Tuesday alone for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests under the COVID-19 Prevention and Control Campaign.
According to senior health officer Bijaya Kumar Jha, swab samples have been collected from 3,936 people in the State as of Tuesday.
Collection of swab samples has been intensified in Parsa district after the number of infected cases has increased there.
Jha stated that collection of swab is being carried out on a campaign basis in Saptari and Siraha districts of the State sharing border with Udayapur district of State-1 which has reported many coronavirus infection cases.
Swab collection is also going ahead in other districts as well. Out of the 3,936 swab samples collected in the State so far, results of 2,750 are available with 94 samples testing positive while 2,656 testing negative to the coronavirus.
According to Jha, results of 1,186 samples would be available by the evening today.
A shortage of isolation beds is seen at hospitals in the State following the surge in the number of cases of late.
One thousand 468 people are kept in 179 quarantine facilities while 4,522 people are kept in home quarantine under direct supervision of health workers throughout the State.
