Govt decides to mobilize additional force along Nepal-India border

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to mobilize additional security personnel along the Nepal-India border to contain the spread of coronavirus.

During a discussion at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday, a decision was taken to add security personnel of the Armed Police Force (APF) along the border.

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, through Home Secretary Maheshwor Neupane, directed APF Chief Sailendra Khanal to deploy APF personnel in hilly and mountain regions along the Nepal-India border.

Minister Thapa further directed to send additional security personnel to Tarai districts.

Nepal is at high risk of COVID-19 due to an increase in the number of COVID-19 patients in India as the countries share an open border.
