Medical teams reach villages in Karnali for coronavirus RDT

KARNALI: Medical teams have reached Karnali villages with rapid diagnostic testing kits to conduct coronavirus tests of those recently returned homes from abroad, the State Health Directorate confirmed.

According to State Health Director Dr Reeta Bhandari, a total of 500 samples will be collected from all districts in the Karnali state for a rapid test which is mandatory for all foreign-returnees.

The samples showing symptoms similar to COVID-19 will be given more priority for further proceedings. However, medical teams are yet to reach Dailkeh and Doti districts. Prior to this, the Directorate was facing problems in the collection of throat swab samples in absence of personal protection equipments and other safety materials for health workers.

It has now got PPE, surgical masks, gloves and sanitizers among others from the Ministry of Health and Population. However, no COVID-10 infected has been found in the Karnali state.
