KATHMANDU: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has opposed to a recent remark by Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal involving former NC President Girija Prasad Koirala.
Speaking at a program to commemorate the ‘People’s War’ launched by the then CPN-Maoist party, Dahal, who led the decade-long insurgency in the country, recalled late Koirala suggesting him to carry out major attacks at army barracks during the insurgency period.
“The attempt to drag Koirala, who played a major role in the peace process, to dispute is condemnable and apolitical,” NC Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma said in a statement on Thursday.
The party said a ‘responsible leader made such irresponsible remark by twisting historical facts.’
