NCP Standing Committee meeting begins at Baluwatar

KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has started at the Prime Minister’s official residence on Sunday afternoon.

The venue of the meeting was shifted to Baluwatar from the party’s headquarters in Dhumbarahi ‘considering the health of Prime Minister and Chairman KP Oli’.

PM Oli who had snubbed an earlier meeting is also present today.

The meeting is scheduled to pass a mourning proposal at the demise of former lawmaker and ambassador Kaman Singh Lama.

According to NCP sources, the SC meeting attended by both chairmen of NCP Prime Minister Oli and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is least likely to discuss the controversial issues today.

The meeting is likely to be postponed after observing mourning at the demise of Lama.

Lama died of coronavirus pandemic on December 9.
