Coronavirus cases in India surge over 87.28 lakh



NEW DELHI: Coronavirus cases in India surged to over 87.28 lakh after it reported a single-day spike of 44,878 infections, according to India’s Union Health Ministry.

With the new cases reported in a span of 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 tally has surged to 87,28,795 as of today, according to PTI.

India’s coronavirus-related death toll has mounted to 128,688 so far.

India has now 484,547 active cases of coronavirus after a decrease of 4,747 in the last 24 hours.

Of the 87,28,795 total coronavirus cases, 81,15,580 have recovered, PTI said.

As many as 49,079 patients were discharged on Thursday, according to the Union Health Ministry.
