Nine killed, 34 injured in Baitadi road accident



BAITADI: Nine people have died in a bus accident at Patan municipality-8, Khodpe on the Dasharathchand Highway in Baitadi district.

The ill-fated bus, Na 5 Kha 5141, which was heading to Mahendranagar from Ganna of Darchula met with an accident at 10 pm on Thursday, said DSP Narayan Prasad Adhikari of District Police Office, Baitadi.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.

Seven men and two women are among those deceased. Seven among 34 injured who sustained critical injuries have been referred to Dhangadhi for treatment, informed Adhikari. The remaining 27 injured are undergoing treatment at Dadeldhura Hospital.

Police with the help of locals retrieved eight out of nine bodies from the accident site.

Police said they are investigating the cause of the accident.
