SC orders govt to ensure free COVID-19 tests at private labs

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the government to provide free PCR tests even at private laboratories.

In a full text of the order made by Justices Dr. Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Tanka Bahadur Moktan, it has mentioned that the PCR test fee should not be charged under any pretext.

The apex court has also ordered the government not to charge for PCR tests for visa purposes.

Hearing the writ petition filed by advocates Keshar Jung KC and Lokendra Oli, the apex court on October 1 had ordered not to charge the fee as basic health care is a fundamental right of the citizens.
