Four including two septuagenarians succumb to COVID-19



KATHMANDU: Four additional people including two septuagenarians have died from coronavirus in separate districts in the country.

A 71-year-old man succumbed to the virus in the course of treatment at Koshi Hospital in Biratnagar of Morang district on Tuesday morning.

Originally from Budhiganga rural municipality-5, the elderly breathed his last at 2:14 am, informed Gyan Bahadur Basnet, the manager of COVID Treatment Center of Koshi Hospital.

Similarly, a 43-year-old man of Sundar Haraincha municipality-3 succumbed to the virus this morning.

The infected patient died at 8:10 am in the course of treatment at Birat Teaching Hospital in Budhiganga rural municipality, informed Sunil Dev, the head of the isolation ward of the hospital.

He had been admitted to the hospital on October 10 after he complained of the respiratory problems.

He had tested positive for coronavirus during a PCR test carried out on the same day.

Likewise, a 35-year-old woman has died from coronavirus died from coronavirus at Chitwan Medical College.

Originally from Tilottama municipality-15, Rupandehi died of the virus in the course of treatment, said Dr Daya Ram Lamsal, the director of the hospital.

She had been admitted to the hospital on October 7 after her swab report came out to be positive during a PCR test at the laboratory of Lumbini Provincial Hospital on the other day (October 6).

The patient, who was being treated on ventilator at the ICU of the hospital, succumbed to the virus on Monday evening.

Similarly, a 78-year-old man has died from the coronavirus in the course of treatment at Chitwan Medical College (CMC) in Chitwan district.

The septuagenarian of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-10 succumbed to the virus at 8:10 pm on Monday while undergoing treatment at the hospital, said Dr Lamsal.

The elderly was admitted to CMC on October 10 after testing positive for coronavirus the other day.

He was being treated on ventilator at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital after being diagnosed with the virus.
