Nijgadh Airport: Tourism Ministry to knock PM’s door seeking permission to fell down trees

KATHMANDU: Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has decided to knock the doors of Prime Minister KP Oli about clearing the forest area for the construction of an international airport in Nijgadh of Bara district.

The decision to this effect was made after failing to get an approval from the Ministry of Forests and Environment for the same.

The Ministry of Culture is all set to take up the matter to PM Oli, who is also the Chairman of the National Planning Commission.

The Ministry had sought the approval to fell at least 300,000 trees in the area to begin the construction work for the project.

It may, however, be noted that the Supreme Court has already ruled not to cut to tress for the project.
