Inmates, detainees of Banke jail shifted to other districts

BANKE: Inmates and detainees languishing at the Banke Jail – situated in the proximity of Nepal-India border — have been shifted to other districts after the confirmation of coronavirus infection among the jailbirds.

Following the verification of virus transmission, the jail administration in coordination with the local administration transferred the women inmates to Dailekh and the detainees to Bardiya district jail.

Banke prison office jailer Devendra Man Shrestha shared that 31 inmates including women inmates and their dependent children were shifted to Dailekh jail and 16 detainees including a child were sent to Bardiya district jail.

Banke jail, originally having capacity to accommodate 300 inmates, including 250 male and 50 female is now managing space for a total 817 inmates and detainees.
