Samajwadi Party holding meeting after Sarita Giri did not withdraw proposal

KATHMANDU: A parliamentary party meeting of the Samajwadi Party is taking place.

The meeting will discuss the proposal regarding the constitution amendment bill submitted by lawmaker Sarita Giri after the Samajwadi Party decided to vote in favor of the constitution amendment.

The constitution is being amended to make the Coat of Arms the part of the Constitution after the government issued a revised map of the country by incorporating Kalapani, Lipu Lekh and Limpiyadhura on May 20.

Samajwadi Party is preparing to take action against Giri after she submitted a proposal at the Parliament Secretariat against the party’s decision demanding that the constitution should not be amended.

According to Umashankar Argariya,  chief whip of Samajwadi Party, the party will request Giri to withdraw the proposal again and if she did not abide by the request, the party will take action against her for going against the party’s decision.

The meeting has been called for 11 am.
