PM Oli instructs ministers to refrain from making comments on Lipu Lekh issue

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has instructed his cabinet ministers to refrain from commenting on the border issue.

Expressing dissatisfaction over some ministers’ comments on the widely-criticized issue of the link road constructed and inaugurated by the Indian side at Lipu Lekh, PM Oli directed them to not pass comments on the issue.

Prime Minister Oli’s instruction comes at a time when there were reports about India inaugurating the link road in Nepal’s land.

“This is an issue that needs to be resolve through diplomatic channel,” a minister quoted PM Oli as saying in Tuesday’s cabinet meeting held at his official residence, Baluwatar.

PM Oli said the government has already initiated efforts on its part to resolve the issue.

“Merely shouting in the streets will not help,” he told the ministers at the meeting.
