NAC to fly back with single passenger leaving scores stranded in Japan

KATHMANDU: Japan is taking its citizens stranded in Nepal back to its country today.

Japan has charted an airbus of national flag carrier Nepal Airlines to rescue its citizens.

On the other hand, the Nepal government has flatly rejected the appeal made by over 50,000 Nepalis stranded in Japan to come back home even though they want to pay for the airfare on their own.

Interestingly, the airbus of Nepal Airlines will bring back a Nepali national after dropping the Japanese citizens.

The Home Ministry has already sent a circulation to this effect.

Under Secrertary of Home Ministry Bednidhi Khanal is the sole passenger who will fly back to Nepal via the wide-body airbus when it flies back home.

On March 11, he had reached Japan and remained stuck in the country due to lockdown.

Around 600,000 Nepali nationals have been stranded in various parts of the world due to Coronavirus-induced lockdown.

Scores of Nepalis are in Australia while over 3,500 Nepalis are desperately waiting for international flights to resume to return home.
