Coronavirus death toll crosses 286,800 globally with over 4.2 mln infected

KATHMANDU: With Coronavirus pandemic wreaking havoc across the world, the death toll from the novel virus has climbed to 286, 986 with 4,250,862 infection cases as of Tuesday morning.

Currently, 2,438, 683 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the world, of which 46, 956 are critical. Meanwhile, 1,525,193 have recovered after treatment.

America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 972 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 81, 759.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 17, 624 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,385,262 as of Tuesday morning.

Currently, 1,042, 879 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 16,481 are critical.  Meanwhile, 260, 624 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 27, 003 deaths followed by New Jersey and Massachusetts with 9,341 and 5,108 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Italy has reported 179 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 30,739 as of Tuesday morning.

The number of infection cases in the country has reached 219, 814 after 744 new cases were reported.

Currently, 82,488 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 999 are critical. Meanwhile, 106,587 have recovered after treatment.

Spain has the second highest number of infection cases with 268,143 after the United States of America (USA).

The country reported 3,480 infection cases, 123 deaths in the last 24 hours. A total of 26, 744 have died due to the novel virus as of Tuesday morning.

Currently, 63, 553 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1,650 are critical.

Meanwhile, 177, 846 have recovered after treatment.

The death toll in the United Kingdom (UK) from Coronavirus pandemic has reached 32, 065 after 210 died in the last 24 hours.

According to Worldometer, with 3, 877 new cases,  the number of infection cases has surged to 223, 060 as of Monday morning.

Currently, 190, 651 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1, 559 are critical.   UK has performed tests on 1,921,770 people so far.

The death toll in France has reached 26, 643 while 177, 423 have been as of Tuesday morning.

Currently, 94, 056 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 2, 712 are critical. Meanwhile, 56, 724 have returned home after recovery.

Similarly, Brazil has witnessed a surge in the deaths of people from Coronavirus of late. According to Worldometer, the death toll has reached 11,519 after 396 died in the last 24 hours.

With 5, 632 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 168, 331 as of Tuesday morning.

Currently, 89, 425 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 8, 318 are critical. Meanwhile, 67, 384 have recovered after treatment.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 212 countries including two international conveyances across the world.
