KATHMANDU: The fair held at Bagdwar, the origin of Bagmati River every year on Baisakh 1, the first day of the Nepali year in the Lunar Calendar has been called off due to the ongoing lockdown aimed at controlling the spread of the Coronavirus.

The fair will not be organized this year in order to avoid the gathering of a huge crowd with the possibility of spreading the coronavirus, said Arun Thakuri, the chair of the Bagdwar users committee. However, a special pooja will be held from the priests on the day i.e. Baisakh 1.

In addition to the fair, the trend paying obeisance to Bishnu Paduka in Shivapuri, Ssapanatirtha in Tokha and Bisket Jatra or fair of Bhaktapur has also been stopped.
