Market fluctuations due to coronavirus: Finance Minister

KATHMANDU: Minister for Finance, Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada on Wednesday blamed the outbreak of coronavirus for recent unexpected fluctuations in the country’s share market.

Responding to the lawmakers’ queries on the bill to amend the Securities Act in the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting today, the minister said shares are especially bought considering the present and future financial status of a certain company adding that an individual will not affect the share market.

Minister Dr Khatiwada said developing a long-term opinion on the basis of the recent trend is wrong.

During the discussion, some lawmakers had earlier claimed that the recent market changes were caused by Minister Dr Khatiwada’s what they said ‘unpopular’ image.
