KATHMANDU: The deadline of the three-member committee formed by the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) to submit its report with recommendations on the widely-debated Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is expiring today.

The committee headed by party senior leader Jhalanath Khanal was given a 10-day deadline to come up with a recommendation on MCC by the party’s central committee on February 2.

The committee, however, is urging the party leadership to extend the deadline by another 10 days.

The other members in the committee include party leader and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali and leader Bhim Rawal.

Prime Minister and party Chairman KP Oli is, however, not in a mood to extend the deadline.

Party sources said PM Oli is preparing to take the issue to the parliament for ratification.
