KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has directed all the hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley to postpone all surgeries except emergencies for the time being.

Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, Spokesperson at the Ministry, said that the hospitals have been instructed to perform regular surgeries only after the coronavirus infection is under control.

He said the recent postponement of regular surgeries would help patients with coronavirus infections get hospital beds and ICUs and ventilators.

The ministry has also stated that all government hospitals in the valley will be transformed into COVID-19 hospitals.
