KATHMANDU: Bus entrepreneurs are not likely to open pre-booking of bus tickets to go back home from Kathmandu during this Dashain festival.

Transport entrepreneurs have ruled out the necessity to announce pre-booking of bus tickets due to an insignificant number of people going back home during this Dashain.

Most of the people are hesitant to move due to the fear of coronavirus infections.

Nepal National Transport Entrepreneurs Association Chairman Yogendra Karmacharya said around 100,000 passengers used to exit the Kathmandu valley on a daily basis around this time last year while this number is hardly 9,000 to 10,000 this year.

The Department of Transport Management (DTM) is preparing to hold talks for the last time with the transport entrepreneurs on coming Wednesday, said Loknath Bhusal, the spokesperson for the Department.

In a tripartite meeting between DTM, transport entrepreneurs and traffic police held on last Friday, none of the sides was in favor of pre-booking of bus tickets, said Bhusal.
