Private school’s learning cost, salary management still uncertain

KATHMANDU: The learning cost of alternative systems and teachers’ salary management has become a complicated issue in private schools which have been shut due to the effects of COVID-19.

At a virtual dialogue ‘Learning of alternative system and regulation of private schools’ organized here today, participants said that though the Student Facilitation Directive-2077 BS issued by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology have some easy measures still some issues are uncertain.

With the issuance of the ministry-issued directive, it was urged to assure learning of all the students and further strengthen the learning after using the local materials and resources.

The participants also called for the government to provide necessary facilitation for the operation of private schools and preserve the professional rights of the teachers serving in the private school.

Among the recommendations include preparation of work procedure for the cost involved in the alternative learning system and its implementation and monitoring at local level.

There are 27,706 community schools and 6,787 private schools in Nepal where 7.6 million students are pursuing their school level education. RSS
