Bhaktapur incident: Sudip committed suicide after killing wife and son, say Police



KATHMANDU: A preliminary investigation of the police has shown that Sudip Adhikari committed suicide after killing his wife and son in the incident of three deaths found at a house in Madhyapur Timi Municipality-6 on Friday evening.

According to police, Sudip must have murdered them with a sharp weapon while they were asleep before poisoning himself.

A team of police from Bhaktapur Metropolitan Police Range and Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Kathmandu had reached the incident site after being informed by Sudip’s younger brother at 5 pm on Friday.

The team which included forensic exports from TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj found 36-year-old Sudip, his wife Samjhana, 34, and his son Sushanta, 15, dead in their house.

“The body of Sushanta was found on the first floor and that of Samjhana on the third floor. Blood stains were visible on the wall of the house,” said an official involved in the investigation.

Both of the bodies had deep cuts in their heads and were decomposing indicating that son and the mother could have been killed at least two days ago, according to the preliminary investigation. However, the facts will come out only after the postmortem.

Sudip’s body which was found on the ground floor has no injuries. Few marks of vomiting were visible near his body, said the police.
