Senior journalist Baniya found dead in Makwanpur



KATHMANDU: Senior journalist Balaram Baniya has been found dead in Makwanpur on Wednesday.

He was missing since Monday.

A correspondent with Kantipur daily, Baniya’s body was found stuck at the Mandu Hydropower in Sisneri of Bhimphedi rural municipality at around 1:30 pm in Makwanpur, said Chief of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division SSP Dipak Thapa.

Police with the help of locals had taken the body out from the site.

His body was then taken to Hetauda for post-mortem.

Police said he was last seen at Balkhu in Kathmandu.

Hailing from Tanahu, he had been working with Kantipur Publications for the last two decades.

He was also affiliated with Nagarik daily for sometime. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
