KATHMANDU: Nepal has confirmed 448 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the addition of the cases, total cases in Nepal have reached 5,062.
Speaking at a regular press briefing on Friday, Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that among the newly-infected are 424 male and 24 female.
According to Spokesperson Dr. Gautam, tests at a laboratory in Biratnagar have confirmed the infection in two people from Morang and seven from Jhapa.
Similarly, a test conducted at the TU Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu has confirmed coronavirus infection in 10 people of Mahottari and tests conducted at COVID-19 laboratory at Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan have confirmed corona infection in eight people of Chitwan.
Similarly, a test conducted at Patan Hospital has confirmed coronavirus infection in a person from Dhading.
Meanwhile, tests conducted at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan have confirmed corona infection in 17 people from Saptari, three from Udayapur and 11 from Siraha.
Similarly, a laboratory test at Koshi Hospital has confirmed the infection in a woman from Ilam, six women from Jhapa, a woman and nine men from Sunsari.
A test conducted at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Pokhara confirmed coronavirus infection in 13 men from Parbat, 22 men from Syangja, one from Nawalparasi East and one from Tanahun.
Similarly, two women and 13 men from Bardiya and one woman from Banke have been infected in a laboratory test at Bheri Hospital.
According to Spokesperson Dr. Gautam, tests conducted at Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Diseases Hospital, Teku, confirmed the infection in four men from Nawalparasi East, one man from Morang, two women and 25 men from Dhading.
A test conducted at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Janakpur has confirmed coronavirus infection in 14 people from Dhanusha and six people from Mahottari and three from Sarlahi.
Similarly, a woman and three men from Kapilvastu and a man from Sarlahi have been diagnosed with the infection in a laboratory test conducted at Dhulikhel Hospital and tests conducted at Rapti Institute of Health Sciences have confirmed coronavirus infection in eight people including three women.
Similarly, tests conducted at Surkhet Hospital and Avian Disease Investigation Laboratory have confirmed infection in five women and 33 men in Dailekh, two women and 43 men in Surkhet.
Likewise, two people from Arghakhanchi, one from Gulmi, one from Palpa, two from Pyuthan, three women and 13 men from Rupandehi, one woman and one man from Nawalparasi West have been confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus.
Similarly, tests conducted at the National Public Health Laboratory, Teku, confirmed coronavirus infection in one person from Bara, one from Dhading, one from Dhanusha, one from Nuwakot, 86 from Rautahat, one woman from Kathmandu, nine women and 41 men from Sarlahi.
In the last 24 hours, 5,925 samples have been tested through PCR, said Spokesperson Dr. Gautam.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 309,914 samples have been tested for coronavirus in Nepal so far. Of these, 121,862 samples were tested through the PCR and 188,052 through the RDT.
Meanwhile, 16 COVID-19 patients, including four females and 12 males have been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
At present, 4,169 people are in isolation and 158,050 are in quarantines across the country.
A total of 877 people have been discharged after recovery and 16 have died so far.
