Local levels of Tanahu to get PCR machine on their own



TANAHUN: Local governments of Tanahu district are set to procure of PCR equipment for coronavirus test on their own.

They have decided to procure the machine internally in response to a marked delay in the coronavirus testing on those staying in coronavirus quarantine establishments.

A meeting of local levels had earlier agreed to allocate Rs 10 million to purchase the equipment for the COVID-19 laboratory to be established at the GP Koirala National Center for Respiratory Diseases in the district.

The budget will be borne by local levels. The District Coordination Committee Tahanu’s chief Shanti Raman Wagle said that the Shuklagandaki municipality will bear the highest 14 percent of the cost followed by 12 percent each by Bhimad and Bhanu municipalities, nine percent each by Myagde, Aabukhaireni, Rhishing and Ghiring rural municipalities and five percent by the Devghat rural municipality.

Currently, swab sample collected in the district has to be sent to Pokhara for testing, and it takes time to complete testing procedures.
