Private vehicles start operating on odd-even rule



KATHMANDU: The government has allowed private vehicles to operate on odd-even rule from today –  the 81st day of the lockdown.

Traffic police said private vehicles are operating on odd-even system in all the districts including the Kathmandu Valley from today.

However, these vehicles are restricted going from one district to the other.

This rule will not apply in case of Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Kathmandu.

The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday issued some new orders easing the lockdown imposed to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, informed government Spokesperson Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada.

According to him, the Cabinet has decided to allow private vehicles to operate in the concerned districts including the Valley on odd and even basis.

He said that only one person on a motorcycle and three people including a driver can sit in a private vehicle.
