Tenants inbound to Kathmandu to require RDT negative or 8 day quarantine !

KATHMANDU: The Ward Offices and tol committees of Kathmandu have started issuing prohibition notices so as to prevent the out-flown tenants to come back with the transmission cases when they return to their rented rooms or flats.

The tenants who left Kathmandu in haste to save themselves from coronavirus pandemic are flocking back to Kathmandu after the government decided to resume the industries and offices in the valley.

However, the precautionary initiatives of getting them coronavirus tested prior to entertaining their shelters have put many of them into difficulties.

Many Wards Offices and tol committees have decided to make at least 8-day quarantine and RDT result negative mandatory before letting the tenants rejoin their shelters in the capital.

With the coronavirus cases hiking outside the valley, the formerly outbound tenants of Kathmandu are rushing back now for their safety and also to resume their services here.

But the valley dwellers who locked themselves in during the hard times of lockdown, now fear that the returnees might bring the transmission cases, so as a precaution they have started issuing notices.

Many tols and Ward Offices of Kathmandu have been alerting them through mics and radio messages whereas some have even publishing wall notices with the cautionary notices.

One of such notices issued at Om Bahal Kathmandu has addressed the tenants returning to Kathmandu and has asked to abide by the mandatory provisions of the 8-day quarantine and RDT negative result as that only can ensure the safety of the people living in the valley despite hard-life here.

The notice even asks the people to contact Ward Office of Ward no. 23 provided they have any grievances.

Earlier, Ward No. 15 of Chandragiri Municipality had also directed all landlords to ensure all the returnees get their coronavirus tested prior to reusing their facilities.

The municipality had warned to take action against the tenants who don’t inform the municipality about such reports.

Nepal has got 121 coronavirus infection cases so far. There have been no death cases of coronavirus till date.

With widespread of the pandemic in India, many Nepali migrant laborers are returning home risking the transmission back to their home and from there it is likely to spread to other parts of the country esp. big cities and capital.
