Coronavirus claims 80, 787, infects 1,367,638 in US



KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 720 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 80, 787.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 19, 444 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,367,638 as of Monday morning.

Currently, 1,030, 515 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 16,514 are critical.  Meanwhile, 256, 336 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 26, 812 deaths followed by New Jersey and Massachusetts with 9,264 and 4,979 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 212 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 283,846 and infecting 4,179,720 people as of Monday morning.
