Democratic lawyers urge for unity among all to cope up crisis

KATHMANDU: Nepal Democratic Lawyers’ Association has urged everyone to foster unity so that it would be easy to brave the COVID-19 pandemic.

Issuing a press statement today, Association’s general secretary Laxmi Devi Dahal said cooperation from the people belonging to different sectors is imperative at this hour of need.

As the courts are functioning partially and lawyers and journalists are facing difficulty for movement, they could be allowed for movement based on their identity cards during the lockdown, she said, making aware the government to emerge further alert on the gatherings which may be held as cultural and traditional rituals on the occasion of the New Year 2077 BS.

“Raising public awareness for the test in line with the standard set by the World Health Organization is essential,” she underscored.

The Association further demanded the government to arrange swab test reaching every citizen’s home during a lockdown.

Easy availability of mask and sanitizer, a guarantee of health security to the prisoners, creation of atmosphere to bring those Nepalis stranded in a border in the country, transparent distribution of relief materials and smooth supply of goods are other demands the Association made before the government.
