Be assured, RPP will not split again: Kamal Thapa

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and RPP (Unified) have formally unified on Wednesday.

The two parties — Kamal Thapa-led RPP and Pashupati Shumsher Rana and Prakash Chandra Lohani-led RPP (Unified) — announced their merger by exchanging unification letters at a program in Kathmandu today.

Parties of the Panchayat-era politicians, they have unified on the agenda of the Hindu state. The RPP has also been advocating for a ceremonial monarchy.

According to the agreement, Thapa, Rana and Lohani will be leading the newly-unified party RPP as chairmen.

The leaders, however, are yet to finalize the new party flag and election symbol.

Speaking on the occasion, holding a copy of holy book Gita, Thapa assured party cadres that they would not allow the party to split again.

“Be assured, the party will not in any way split again,” Thapa announced amid applauds.

Prior to this, party cadres and leaders present on the occasion had complained that the party underwent several splits and that they would not tolerate further splits.
