Former State Minister Raya released on bail

KATHMANDU: Former State Minister Khobhari Raya — arrested at a gambling den in Kathmandu a couple of days back — has been released on bail today.

Police had arrested 10 people, including Raya in possession of Rs 153,000 cash for gambling.

The Kathmandu District Court, meanwhile, released them on a bail of Rs 3,000.

According to SP Somendra Singh Rathaur of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range, all 10 people have already been released following the court order.

Raya was a leader of the then Sadbhawana Party.

A licensed gun holder Khobhari’s Swoyambhu-based residence used to be a haven for gamblers, but this time he was arrested while gambling at Saili Tamang’s house.

Khovari hails from Kabilashi-3, Sarlahi and had entertained the post of State Minister under three different governments.

He is also known as a chameleon in politics for changing political party as per his personal benefit.
