Education Minister Pokhrel tests positive for coronavirus



KATHMANDU: Minister of Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokhrel has tested positive for coronavirus.

He was admitted to Patan Hospital on Saturday night after he complained to fever. His swab was taken the same night, and the report came out positive on Sunday, according to his personal secretary Puran Khadka.

Minister Pokhrel’s secretariat has urged one and all who had come into contact with the Minister to undergo test for coronavirus.

Minister Pokhrel is the second minister after Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Bhattarai in the Prime Minister KP Oli-led cabinet to have contracted the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Minister Pokhrel had on Saturday met with Prime Minister Oli at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatarto discuss the demands put forth by Dr Govinda KC.
