17 more Nepalis abroad die of coronavirus



KATHMANDU: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has stated that 17 more Nepalis abroad succumbed to the coronavirus in the past week.

According to the record maintained by NRNA Health Committee, 16 Nepalis in Saudi Arabia and one in the UAE died of the pandemic.

NRNA Health Committee Coordinator Dr. Sanjeev Sapkota said that 281 Nepalis in foreign lands have succumbed to the pandemic until Saturday evening.

According to the committee, new infections have been diagnosed among Nepalis living in Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, India, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

A total of 40,735 Nepalis in 42 countries except Nepal have been diagnosed coronavirus positive so far. Among them, 36,673 have recovered, taking the recovery rate to 89 percent.

Nepal has recorded 105,684 coronavirus cases, while 74,252 have recovered. The death toll stands at 614 as of Saturday afternoon.
