13 more succumb to COVID-19 in Nepal

KATHMANDU: A total of 13 people have succumbed to the pandemic in different hospitals across the country.

Rupandehi and Sunsari have reported four coronavirus related deaths each, while two from Banke and one each from Chitwan, Kavre, and Dhankuta also died of the coronavirus.

Rupandehi confirms four deaths

An 84-year-old man of Butwal-11 died while being taken to hospital on Saturday, said Dr. Vishnu Gautam, Information Officer at COVID-19 Special Hospital, Butwal. He died at Dhankhola of Kapilvastu while being taken to a hospital outside the district as there was no vacant ICU bed in Butwal.

Similarly, a 61-year-old woman of Butwal-11 died at the hospital at 2 am on Sunday.

A 70-year-old man of Butwal-1 also succumbed to the pandemic at the hospital on Saturday night.

Likewise, a 66-year-old woman of Tilottama Municipality-3 also died of the coronavirus. She died at the COVID-19 Special Hospital in Beljhundi, Dang on Saturday, according to the hospital administration.

Two more die of coronavirus in Banke, 20 critically ill

Two more people undergoing treatment at the Bheri Hospital died on Saturday night.

An 84-year-old man of Traffic Chowk in ward no. 10 of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolis and a 71-year-old woman of Kohalpur Municipality ward no. 8 died in the course of treatment, said COVID-19 Focal Person of Health Office, Banke Naresh Shrestha.

This takes the total tally of deaths due to the coronavirus in Banke district to 26.

Another 12 persons who came for treatment in the district from other districts also died.

Meanwhile, eight patients in Bheri hospital and 12 in the teaching hospital in Kohalpur are reportedly in serious condition.

Two die in Biratnagar

Two people infected with the coronavirus died at the Nobel Medical College Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar on Saturday night.

According to the hospital, a 71-year-old man from Harinagara-4 in Sunsari died at 10:15 pm while undergoing treatment.

He was admitted to the hospital on October 7 for treatment and was diagnosed coronavirus positive the same day.

Similarly, a 40-year-old woman of Duhabi-3 died at 11 pm.

According to the hospital, the woman, who was admitted for treatment on October 6, underwent a PCR test, and the coronavirus was confirmed the next day.

Septuagenarian woman dies of COVID-19 in Chitwan

Another COVID-19 patient has succumbed to the pandemic in the district on Sunday.

A 75-year-old woman of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-1 died at Chitwan Medical College, Bharatpur.

She was admitted to the hospital on Thursday with asthma, high blood pressure and pneumonia. Her COVID-19 report was positive the next day.

She died this morning while undergoing treatment at the hospital’s COVID Intensive Care Unit, the hospital said.

The number of deaths due to the pandemic in the district has reached 33.

52-year-old succumbs to COVID-19 in Kavre

Meanwhile, a man who was undergoing treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital in Kavre also died of the coronavirus.

A 52-year-old man who was admitted to the hospital 10 days ago died on Saturday night, said Kavre Chief District Officer Shivaram Pokharel.

Three persons died of COVID-19 here in the last twenty-four hours. They were treated at the corona hospital at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan.

The deceased include a 64-year-old man from Duhabi, Sunsari; a 61-year-old woman from Dhankuta and another woman of unidentified age from Dharan-8.

The 64-year-old man, who was admitted to the hospital on September 30 after contracting the infection, was suffering from kidney problems. The 61-year-old woman was suffering from diabetes.

Similarly, another woman was referred by Dhankuta Hospital and was admitted to the hospital on October 2, according to said Dr. Ashish Shrestha, Co-Spokesperson at the BPKIHS.

Nepali Army would manage dead bodies, he added.
