Don’t belittle COVID-19: Health Ministry

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has urged one and all not to underestimate the COVID-19 infection and be frivolous about it.

In a routine press conference here Friday, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam appealed to all not to go by the rumors that COVID-19 is like any other flu and it is not deadly as the risk of COVID-19 was alarmingly increasing in the country and the number of infected ones and the fatality was on the rise.

Dr. Gautam said, “Let’s come together for the campaign to make the country COVID-19 free. Do not go by the rumors on COVID-19. Such rumors tend to push society towards greater risks. I urge you all to be aware and alert and to gear up to make your settlement, neighbors free from COVID-19 risks.”

He shared that 1,454 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country in the last 24 hours with 696 in the Kathmandu Valley alone.

He also requested all of us not to comment negatively on the health safety protocols put in place by the Ministry of Health and Population to prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic and treat the infected ones.

The Spokesperson also urged the media not to distort the health safety measures ensured by the Ministry and being implemented to contain the deadly infection.
