Woman succumbs to COVID-19 in Biratnagar



BIRATNAGAR: A woman infected with the coronavirus died while receiving treatment at Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar on Friday evening.

A 70-year-old woman of Morang’s Gramthan Rural Municipality-2 succumbed to the pandemic, according to the hospital’s Chief and Senior Physician Dr. Deepak Sigdel.

She was admitted to the hospital and treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) overnight after the infection was confirmed on Thursday.

With the death, Nepal’s COVID-19 death tally has reached 323.

A total of five COVID-19 patients had succumbed to the pandemic in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 322 the Ministry of Health and Population had stated on Friday.

According to the Ministry, four men and one woman had died of the coronavirus.

A 40-year-old woman in Morang, men aged 65 years in Mahottari, 45 years in Dhanusha, 70 years in Kathmandu and 55 years in Nawalparasi had succumbed to the pandemic.

Nepal had recorded five COVID-19 deaths on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Nepal recorded 1,454 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. With the new cases, Nepal’s tally has reached 51,919.
