COVID-19 confirmed after death of four inmates of Central Prison



KATHMANDU: Coronavirus infection has been confirmed after the death of four inmates of the Central Prison.

According to Jailor Laxmi Banskota, four more inmates who died while undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital have been diagnosed positive for the pandemic virus.

The deceased are a 64-year-old from Siraha, a 60-year-old from Bajhang, a 58-year-old from Palpa and a 69-year-old from Dolakha.

They had succumbed to the pandemic at the hospital on September 1, Jailor Baskota said.

Likewise, an inmate from Dolakha had died of the coronavirus on September 4.

The Sundhara-based prison has witnessed 60 coronavirus cases among inmates.

Among them, 31 have recovered so far.

Jailer Banskota said that some of the infected inmates were kept in isolation at the Ayurvedic Hospital in Kirtipur and others in isolation at the hospital inside the Central Prison.
