Female rhino found dead in Rapti River

CHITWAN: A rhino died after being swept away by the Rapti River in Chitwan. The animal was found dead near the Andrayauli Ghat that lies in the west from the Chitwan National Park (CNP).

As CNP’s assistant conservation officer Rhishi Ranabhata, the dead rhino is female and is around 15-20 years old.

It was traced as the flood in the river became less intense. Until the filing of this report, the animal has been already taken out of the river and the process to conduct necropsies was underway. This is the first rhino death from the natural cause (disaster) in CNP.
