KATHMANDU: The National Youth Association (NYA) Nepal has demanded action against federal parliamentarian Sarita Giri.

Issuing a press statement today, association coordinator Ram Prasad Sapkota and joint coordinator Ramesh Poudel demanded action against lawmaker Giri, saying she made a statement hurting the national dignity which went against the constitution and the national interests.

The press release reads: “Our organisation concludes that lawmaker Giri, who has taken an oath to protect and abide by the constitution, has herself faulted the constitutional and moral stature to represent the Nepali people in her capacity as a people’s representative because of the statement she made in parliament in contravention of the sovereignty, integrity and national unity of Nepal.”

The Association has also urged her party to immediately recall an irresponsible person Giri from parliament. It said the organisation would take the matter seriously if the Federal Parliament Secretariat and Giri’s party, Janata Samjwadi Party, did not forward process for taking legal action against Giri.

Likewise, the Association has demanded stern action against the culprits of the Chaurjahari killings that took place in Rukum West district on May 23.
