Kathmandu DAO grants 10-day custody of four Chinese nationals



KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Administration Office (DAO) on Sunday granted a 10-day custody of the Chinese nationals who had manhandled Nepal’s police personnel on Friday, for investigation .

According to Shyam Gyawali, SSP at the Metropolitan Police Range the DAO granted custody of 10 days to investigate the case.

Police had on Friday arrested a total of 47 Chinese nationals following a clash during a demonstration in front of Singha Durbar, which is a restricted area.

While forty-three of those who demonstrated were released the same night of their arrest, four were charged of offence.

Some police personnel, including DSP Hari Basnet, were injured in the clash on Friday.

The Chinese nationals, who have been stranded in Nepal due to the lockdown, have been demanding that they are repatriated to their country.

Earlier on Friday, the Chinese nationals had also demonstrated in front of the Nepal Tourism Board demanding their repatriation.
