Encroachment of Nepali land unfortunate: FM Gyawali

KATHMANDU: Minister of Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali says it was unfortunate that India encroached upon Nepal’s land while constructing the road to Mansarovar of China.

Minister Gyawali said the government would seek detail information from the Nepal Embassy in New Delhi soon.

Furnishing explanation at the parliamentary International Relations Committee on Sunday, Minister Gyawali said that the issue has remained unresolved right from the time of Sugauli Treaty.

He also read the statement issued by his Ministry on Saturday in the Committee meeting saying it was unfortunate that such a development happened at the time of coronavirus pandemic.

Likewise, Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation has said that the Department of Survey alone cannot make Nepal’s new map.

Speaking at the International Relations Committee, Secretary at the Ministry Kedar Neupane said the map including Kalapani and Lipu Lekh can be prepared only by creating a conducive environment.

He said that things have been taken forward through the diplomatic channel.
