Parliament to begin pre-budget discussions from today

KATHMANDU: Discussion on the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill is starting in the Parliament from Sunday.

Minister for Finance Dr. Yuvaraj Khatiwada will be presenting the principles and priorities of the budget at the meeting of the House of Representatives to begin at 11 am and the meeting of the National Assembly at 1 pm.

The pre-budget discussion will be held for three days in the House of Representatives and two days in the National Assembly, according to Parliament Secretariat.

The pre-budget discussion will be held in the House of Representatives on May 10-12 and in the National Assembly on May 10-11.

Similarly, the government will present an economic survey on May 26.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari will be presenting the government’s policies and programs on May 15.

As there is a Constitutional provision that the budget should be unveiled on May 28, there is a legal provision that the pre-budget should be discussed 15 days before that.
